Apple Fellow Phil Schiller officially took the stand today in Apple’s legal battle against Epic Games. The Apple veteran focused heavily on the early days of the App Store, but also provided some interesting tidbits on what it costs to run WWDC, a new developer center coming to Apple Park, and more. After more than a year of construction work, Apple’s large new store located in Seattle’s University Village shopping center will soon be complete. Since initial groundwork began early last year, images of the store under construction have shown continuous but metered progress as the structure rose. People in Hawaii woke up to a terrifying emergency alert sent to iPhones and other devices that officials now say was sent in error. The emergency alert read ‘BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.’, but fortunately was actually a mistake possibly as part of a drill despite the message claiming to be real. The accident is clearly a massive mistake and one that requires a follow up alert to ensure people know the message was sent in error....

Apple’s OS X Lion is off to an amazing start with one million copies of the operating system being downloaded on day one. These are all downloads from the Mac App Store and user feedback has been tremendous so far, as we noted yesterday. In just its first day, 90% of customers gave OS X Lion a five star Mac App Store review. According to Apple, people are buying Lion faster than any other operating system in the world....
