Apple’s summer-long tour of Up Next Live concerts concluded yesterday evening in Washington, D.C. with a performance by artist Khalid at Apple Carnegie Library in Mount Vernon Square. The series, created in partnership with Apple Music and Today at Apple, brought free concerts from rising musicians to major Apple Stores across the world through July and August. Khalid’s performance on the historic steps of D.C.’s Carnegie Library followed similar events from musicians Bad Bunny, Omar Apollo, King Princess, Lewis Capaldi, Daniel Caesar, and Ashley McBryde in Milan, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Paris, London, and Chicago....

Pixelmator has today released a new update for the iPad version ($9.99) of its popular image editor. Version 1.1 includes a brand new watercolor painting feature, which can be used to create brand new pieces of art from a blank canvas or add stylistic additions to existing images and photos. Brushes overlay new colors additively with soft radiuses to create beautiful blends and shading. Pixelmator says they spoke to real artists to help design the brush strokes....

A new investigation from TechCrunch today reveals that some iPhone apps are using services like Glassbox, a “customer experience analytics firm” to track the taps and swipes you make. Apps such as Hollister, Air Canada, Expedia, and Hotels.com are using this framework, and in some cases they inadvertently reveal sensitive information. Glassbox is one of the so-called analytics firms that employ “session replay technology.” This allows developers to record displays and review how users interacted with their app....

Sparrow, an efficient and minimalistic email application for the Mac, has been updated today with useful new features, including integration with the popular cloud storage, Dropbox. Upon authorizing your free or paid Dropbox account for use with Sparrow, you can attach and sync any file from your Dropbox by dragging and dropping it onto the compose window. Dropbox integration ensures that email attachments are not lost upon sending. The previous version of Sparrow also brought us support for CloudApp so Dropbox integration is a welcome addition that works towards strengthening the program’s cloud storage capabilities....

Apple had Oprah on stage at its March event to announce two documentaries focusing on sexual harassment and mental health. They did not say that the show production had links to royalty … Today, the Instagram account representing the Duke & Duchess of Sussex announced that Prince Harry will be a co-creator and executive producer on the mental health documentary. Oprah’s other project on sexual harassment in the workplace is called ‘Toxic Labour’....

Former Iron Fist star Finn Jones lands his next TV gig, playing lead character Malcolm Bright in new FOX serial killer pilot Prodigal Son. Now 30-years-old, Jones has been acting steadily since 2009 in his native U.K., starting out on the long-running British soap opera Hollyoaks. Jones cut his teeth as many actors do after that, appearing in B-movies like slasher sequel Wrong Turn 5. Jones was even a part of Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface, which was shot in 2015, then infamously sat on a shelf until 2017....

Google’s Project Zero team is well-known for revealing the bugs and security flaws within systems from Google itself, as well as other big companies. Most recently, the team at Google has reported and publicly disclosed a “high severity” flaw in the macOS kernel which can grant an attacker access to a users computer without their knowledge. Universal Pictures yesterday posted a video of a brief roundtable discussion of the cast and others discussing the legacy of the man. Jeff Daniels, who plays John Sculley, said that Jobs was a creative genius who could be spoken of in the same breath as Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell....

The 2017 Academy Awards will now forever be remembered for one thing; the massive blunder that resulted in the wrong movie being awarded Best Picture. With the world watching, Faye Dunaway declared that La La Land had won the category, and cast and crew took the stage to accept the award. However, problems became apparent during the acceptance speech from producer Mark Platt, and as the gaffe became clear, Platt stopped his speech and his fellow La La Land producer, Jordan Horowitz, announced that the category had actually been won by Moonlight....
