Prison Break season 1 episode 22 found the gang on the run following their breakout. Skype told us a month ago that it would soon be rolling out group video calling to both iOS and Android devices, and the company has today advised that the rollout is now underway. This brings the mobile experience in line with that already available on the desktop. Today, we’ve started rolling out group video calling on iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets in Western Europe and North America and we expect to have completed our roll-out to these markets over the next week or so....

Apple surely has lots of whiz-bang new features planned for the new flagship iPhone this fall, but the number one feature on my wish list this year is a radical new design. Given the choice between a new iPhone with the same design plus new features like wireless charging and facial recognition or a new iPhone with a new design and no new features, I’d absolutely choose the new design....

This contains both beta and official ColorOS 11 rollout status and timeline on Oppo devices across Western European countries as well as Central and Eastern Europe. Previously, many phishing websites were device agnostic, set up to steal usernames and passwords regardless of whether the user was clicking the link from a computer or mobile. But cybersecurity researchers at Zimperium have analysed hundreds of thousands of phishing websites and found that there’s been a significant rise in websites designed specifically for mobile phishing attacks, now making up three-quarters of all phishing sites. The smaller screens of smartphones and other mobile devices make it more challenging for users identify phishing emails and malicious websites....

Jonathan Hayes of SilverPine Software, who worked on Sunlit with Manton Reece of Riverfold Software, has since purchased Photos+ and today version 1.1 is debuting. Photos+ 1.1 includes a number of bug fixes as well as support for viewing photos stored in your Camera Uploads folder in Dropbox....

As CES 2021 kicks off this week, Pioneer Electronics has announced its newest in-dash receiver with support for CarPlay. The new DMH-WC5700NEX features support for both wireless and wired CarPlay, and will be available sometime this summer. The biggest differentiator of Pioneer’s newest CarPlay receiver is the modular design. The company explains that the DMH-WC5700NEX is designed to offer those with “limited or restricted dash space” an in-dash upgrade solution for their head unit....

Hot off the heels of their iPad app, the Pixelmator team have today released Pixelmator 3.3 for Mac. This update centers around design and structural optimizations for OS X Yosemite, including an extension for integration with other apps and a new icon to match the ‘flatter’ aesthetic of the operating system. The update also includes a new file format to improve syncing and compatibility with the iPad version. Although the app largely resembles previous versions, with custom floating panels and black chrome, it now takes advantage of Apple’s transparency effects to mesh well with the OS....

People who like to use the Surprise Trade feature in Pokémon Sword & Shield need to stop using it until the game has been patched, as there are hacked Pokémon out in the wild that can crash the game if received in a trade. Pokémon Sword & Shield have a feature called Surprise Trade, which allows people to trade Pokémon with strangers so that they won’t know what Pokémon they will receive until the trade has already begun....

Update 2, July 03, 2012: It looks like Apple has now pulled the Display Recorder app from the App Store. The ability to record your iOS display was a functionality previously limited to a Cydia app for jailbroken iPhone users that is called “Display Recorder.” As noted by JBN, Apple has allowed an app of the same name, and with even more screen recording functionality, into the App Store. The App Store version of Display Recorder, released by Bugun Software, allows you to export to YouTube or your Camera Roll, adjust video and audio settings, and settles for recording and merging audio picked up by the built-in microphone....

The PlayStation Network will finally allow PSN name changes starting today, according to a surprise Sony announcement made early this morning. PSN IDs have previously been set in stone, with many gamers lamenting the fact that they were stuck with usernames that they had made over a decade ago. Sony noted in the past that the company would be addressing PSN name changes soon, and that the function would carry with it several caveats that might make PlayStation owners a little hesitant to embrace the changes....

I love the Apple ecosystem. It’s not perfect, and the gap between it and the Google alternative isn’t as great as it used to be, but to my mind it’s still by far the best solution for anyone looking to have all their data and content available across both desktop and mobile devices. That’s largely historical accident. As a very early adopter of ebooks (who’d have thunk it?), I bought the very first Kindle and it was love at first sight....

The Apple TV+ debut is a mixed affair. It may only have a handful of shows right now, but people seem to be enjoying them (even if most critics didn’t). I know I am anxiously looking forward to Friday for the next episode of The Morning Show and For All Mankind. However, Apple TV+ content is only available through the TV app. And the TV app is pretty bad, mediocre at best…...
