Opera’s browser for Mac is finally out of beta, its headline feature being built-in unlimited VPN. The company first added it to the developer version back in April.
A VPN is good for security, and can speed up some overseas sites by automatically choosing the fastest connection, but don’t expect to use it to access content from a different Netflix region.
I tested it from the UK, using a U.S. VPN. As with most other VPN services, it displays content from the American version but detects the proxy server when attempting to play it.
It does, though, work with a lot of other sites, allowing you to choose between Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore and the USA. The app is a free download from Opera’s site.
