In late 2020, we got the announcement about the Reno 5 series smartphones from Oppo. And early in the month of January we now have the Oppo Reno 5 officially launching in the smartphone market. There is a lot of praise going around for the Reno 5 series smartphone already and here we will take a look at what the Standard variant, Reno 5 has in store for us.
In this post, we will give you a dedicated Oppo Reno 5 5G software update tracker. From here, you will be able to keep your Oppo Reno 5 5G smartphone up to date, with the latest available update for your phone. With that being said, let us get straight into the article itself:
Oppo Reno 5 5G Device Overview
The Reno 5 5G features a 6.43-inch OLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The display has a peak brightness of 750 nits which is adequate enough to be used under direct sunlight. However, we had a number of high brightness phones in the last year and if you already had a brighter display phone before then 750 nits might not be enough for you. For processing power, we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G which is built on a 7nm manufacturing process. It is an octa-core processor with one Kryo 475 Prime core clocked at 2.4 GHz, on Kryo 475 Gold clocked at 2.2 GHz, and six Kryo 475 Silver cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. This is a processor we see on OnePlus Nord too.
The Reno 5 5G runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1 skinned on top of it. In the optics department, we get a quad rear camera setup and a single high megapixel selfie camera. The quad setup consists of a 64MP main sensor paired with an f/1.7 lens, an 8MP ultrawide sensor paired with an f/2.2 lens, a 2MP macro sensor paired with an f/2.4 lens, and a depth sensor paired with an f/2.4 lens. There is only a single 32MP sensor at the front paired with an f/2.4 lens. The front camera is only capable of capturing 109p videos while the rear camera goes up to 4K recording.
The base variant comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The higher variant comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. In terms of connectivity, we get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C 3.1. And for sensors, we have an under-display fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. Powering it all up is a 4300 mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. The smartphone is available in three color options: Aurora Blue, Moonlight Black, and Starry Dream.
