In an exclusive clip from Nat Geo WILD’s Out There With Jack Randall, the series star participates in a dangerous high-speed rescue of Australian camels. The series launched recently with zoologist and former Steve Irwin apprentice Jack Randall as its star. The exuberant scientist and host has been delivering information and thrills in the six-episode first season, but nothing compares to what happens when he joins a group of animal wranglers looking to save some camels from a precarious spot down under.

It’s no easy task to follow in the footsteps of the late Irwin, and while that’s not necessarily the point of Out There With Jack Randall, it certain plays a part. But while Randall’s career ostensibly began in Irwin’s shadow, the zoologist has proven he’s more than ready to strike out on his own. In doing so, audiences have seen the beginning of what may turn out to be another globally recognizable face in the world of animal conservation and scientific interest. And if his dedication to the latter is any indication, his heightened profile would be well deserved.

In the exclusive clip, Randall travels into Australia’s Red Center region — which is the southern desert in the country’s northern territory — to try and save animals from drought. As the clip points out, that’s easier said than done. Though the camels may be in danger due to the environmental conditions, they’re none too eager to handled by the people chasing them, which leads the wranglers to take some unique measures in securing them. Check out the clip below to see just how dangerous it is:

This might be one of the few times that a wildlife series on television feels more like a scene from Indiana Jones. It’s to the show’s credit that Randall and his crew were able to capture the frankly thrilling sequence without anyone or anything being injured, but it’s even more impressive to see the lengths these individuals will go to ensure wildlife have a fighting chance in such a harsh and unforgivable environment.

“Wildlife zoologist Jack Randall and local animal wranglers give chase to a group of camels in Australia’s dry Red Center region. The team is on a mission to rescue as many of these animals facing drought as possible.”
