The science fiction behind DC’s Collapser is getting stranger and stranger by the issue, as Liam James discovers the truth about his family… and their place in a cosmic hunt for reality-warping technology. But hey, at least he now knows that the rest of the world can see the skeleton bombing Earth from a hot air balloon, too.
There’s no easy way to describe the cosmic forces and mystical science that has led to this point in the series from Danny Way, Shaun Simon, and Ilias Kyriazis. In truth, the readers are still just as much in the dark as Liam himself. One day he wakes up with a black hole contained inside of his chest, begins teleporting around the globe to locations of cosmic or occult significance, and eventually sees his hallucinations become real. All things considered, our preview of Collapser #3 finding Liam with his black hole in the form of a kind old man is a welcome return to the familiar.
The series has done Young Animal proud in its first two issues, with the writers and artwork perfectly capturing the spirit of this science fiction/body horror/theoretical physics adventure. The series has made vague allusions to a larger rivalry or war that Liam and his black hole have been dragged into, but Issue #2 brought those problems home to roost. After being treated for what he thought was hallucinations and paranoid fantasies, Liam has realized they may have actually been glimpses of the truth. But the preview of Collapser #3 confirms his path to understanding is going to get weirder before it starts to make sense. Take a look at the pages embedded below:
It looks like Liam just stumbled onto an entirely new mystery, meaning the true nature of black holes is just as strange as his own. Fans can pick up the full issue this Wednesday, and can find the full credits and solicitations details below:
