Just when it looked like life might finally be settling down for Eddie Brock a.k.a. Venom, he’s found himself a secret son, and accidentally released the oldest and greatest villain in Marvel history. So with an evil elder god bearing down on the planet, it’s time for Eddie to take a short trip… to Venom Island.
In recent months, Venom has led the charge against the return of Cletus Kasady a.k.a. Carnage, and his mission to kill every symbiote host in hopes of freeing the aforementioned Knull, dark god of symbiotes. That eventual showdown helped Eddie realize that he’s more of a father than a superhero, but inadvertently revealed the truth about his connection to Dylan in less than ideal circumstances. Now in the preview of Venom #21 fresh from Marvel Comics, it looks like that emotional strain is going to be as much of a problem for Eddie as the end of the world only he knows is coming. Time for a shave!
The shift to the personal side of Eddie’s character makes perfect sense spinning out of the Absolute Carnage event. Even though Eddie has a history of playing lone wolf, caring only about the survival of him and his symbiote Other – and Venom’s children, whenever they happen to pop up – but the introduction of a human child has changed all that. Eddie and the symbiote already parted ways out of a sense of duty to protect Dylan, but ended up reuniting to bring down Carnage.
Now with Venom #21 carrying the story forward, Dylan is less than happy to learn his ‘brother’ Eddie is actually his father. While Eddie has to shoulder that burden also knowing them and everyone they know may have just days to live before Knull arrives. Which makes it a strange time for Eddie to be recruited by what looks to be… well, it’s hard to say. The U.S. military? A private security firm or powerful figure? Check out the official preview pages below:
Fans can only guess where Eddie is headed, and how it will land him his coming adventure on ‘Venom Island’ for the story of the same name. In the meantime, readers can find the full solicitation and plot synopsis for Venom #21 below.
