Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh got to be home for Christmas Eve after he was discharged from the hospital after a 4-night stay. The Royal family will be able to spend Christmas together.

Queen Elizabeth was forced to step up and serve her country when her father suddenly passed and then married the Duk in 1947 who was a Greek prince and four children, three sons, and a daughter. She has reigned with her husband by her side for the past 67 years and England couldn’t imagine it any other way. Prince Philip is the longest-serving consort of a reigning royal in British history. On December 20th, Prince Phillip was hospitalized due to precautionary measures. The check-up was for a pre-existing condition according to Buckingham Palace and was at the advice of His Royal Highness’ doctors. The prince is 98 years old and had been staying at Sandringham Estate before entering the hospital.

After spending four days in the hospital, Prince Phillip was discharged from the King Edward VII Hospital in London and he was home just in time for the Christmas Eve celebrations at the palace. Buckingham Palace released a statement to Us Weekly, writing, “The Duke of Edinburgh has today left hospital after being discharged by his doctor and is now back at Sandringham [Estate].” They continued, “His Royal Highness would like to thank everyone who sent their good wishes.”

The 98-year-old royal was spotted wearing a suit and tie when he was leaving the hospital. The prince reportedly waved to a doctore who accompanied him outside and he shook hand swith a nurse. He flew via private helicopter back to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk where the British royal family spends Christmas every year.

It’s going to be a Merry Christmas for the British royal family this year as they will be able to spend the holiday all together, minus  Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle and their son Archie. Regardless, it’s better for the Queen to have her husband by her side for this holiday.
